Forestry operations

Timber harvesting operations in State Forest areas occasionally occur in walk areas and could ruin your walk plan or walk enjoyment if you are unaware in advance of current or recent past logging operations in the area. To ensure you choose a walk area that will be unaffected by recent logging you can :

1. Check DBCA’s three-year current indicative timber harvest plan for the Swan Region;

2. Check the Forest Products Commission’s (FPC) annual timber harvest plan for the current year;

3. Contact the FPC for more information on actual timing of operations in a specific forestry ‘coupe’ or harvest area.  (Also, an FPC person will be able to explain to you the significance of the various white paint markings which the foresters apply to the tree trunks prior to logging operations.)
